Origin and History
A disturbing case involving a school dropout who later became a juvenile offender and eventually a gangster led to deep reflection on the gaps in our systems of education, child protection, and community support.
As a social worker, I found myself asking a difficult question: Could this have been prevented?
That question became a turning point. Determined to make a difference, I chose to work in the very school where the child had dropped out. The goal was simple but deeply important—to create an environment where children receive the support they need to stay in school, discover their potential, and build a better future.
This experience strengthened our belief that early intervention, education, care, and community support can change the course of a child's life.
Katravai Patravai Trust was formally established on April 10, 2019, under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882, and the Income Tax Act, 1961. The Trust was born from real-life experiences that revealed the gaps in education, child protection, and community support—and from a strong belief that meaningful change begins with listening, learning, and taking action.
A Lesson in Sustainability
Our approach was also shaped by another important experience. While working with an NGO, I witnessed tuition centres being forced to close because of funding constraints. The impact on children and their parents was heartbreaking.
Their words stayed with us. The experience taught us that starting an initiative is not enough—it must also be sustainable. Every programme we undertake should be designed with care, responsibility, and the ability to endure beyond short-term funding cycles.
This led us to adopt a minimalist and sustainable approach: start with what is needed; use resources wisely, build responsibly, and ensure that the work we begin can continue to serve children and communities for the long term.
At Katravai Patravai Trust, we believe that lasting change is built through consistent action, responsible use of resources, and a commitment to staying the course.

Nutrition & Food Security
Our commitment is simple: to ensure that children have the support, opportunities, and basic necessities they need to grow with dignity and hope.
Health & Well-being
We work to improve awareness and access to essential health and well-being support, with a focus on children and vulnerable communities.
We provide nutritious food and essential food support to children who may not have reliable access to adequate meals, including orphans and children from single-parent families. We believe that no child should have to face hunger while growing, learning, and building their future.
Our Programmes
KARPI - Community Tuition Centres
Our Community Tuition Centre programme was started with a simple but important goal: to ensure that children from vulnerable communities receive the academic support, encouragement, and safe environment they need to stay in school and continue their education.
Godrej Tutoring Program
For many children, a nutritious breakfast is a simple part of starting the school day. But for some, it is a meal they often have to go without.
At Adi Dravidar Welfare Government Boys Higher Secondary School, more than 38 children from single-parent families attend school without having breakfast. Recognising that hunger can affect a child’s ability to learn, concentrate, and participate fully in school, Program Amizhdham was initiated to ensure that these children begin their day with a nourishing meal.
Corporate Volunteer Engagement
At Katravai Patravai Trust, we believe that small acts of support can spark lasting change. In partnership with Goodera and powered by a vibrant network of over 4,000 dedicated volunteers, we create hands-on learning resources, support families, and uplift communities.
Program Amizhdham
The Godrej CSR Project, implemented by Katravai Patravai Organisation, was a pioneering educational initiative aimed at re-engaging students who had discontinued their formal education after the 8th Standard.
Conducted from December 2025 to April 2026, the programme provided 135 hours of structured coaching in Tamil and English, delivered by three dedicated teachers across Ambattur ITI and Guindy ITI.
